What would've Cupid done if Psyche decided to give up and move on?

This is kind of a silly hypothetical question, so I am going to answer in a somewhat Greek/Roman romantic manner and suggest that Cupid would likely have a major change in his personality, and since he is a god, that would affect how his powers and nature is reflected in human existance. Instead of being the god responsible for making people fall in love, perhaps he would be so embittered that he would be responsible for breaking hearts, and also conforting those in prayer who need help recovering from a major heartbreak. Hence, Cupid would be the original Heartbreak Kid.
