How to form a dramatic society?

Some friends and I are looking to form a small dramatic society, performing some classic plays, particularly with a focus on diversity (everything, from Shakespeare and Marlowe to hamilton and pinter). We'd like it to be semi-professional, so we're collecting ticket sales, but all the money goes to the next production. I presume that we need to get licensed? Where can we do this? Is there anything else we should aware of?
